MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Susan Adler Davis is a 4th generation Baltimorean and has deep ties to the area. Her paintings reflect the history and significance of the landscapes and buildings she paints. Each tries to depict the essence of the subject matter.
Trained as a weaver at the Maryland Institute College of Art under Virginia West, she holds a BFA in Crafts with a minor in Art History. She also holds an MAT in Art Education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
Susan started painting 6 years ago after retiring from the Baltimore County Public Schools. She works in acrylics, both on canvas and fabric, which she then quilts. She is currently studying at the Zoll Studio of Fine Arts under Bennett Vadnais.
Susan’s great-great aunt was also an artist and collector, Saidie Adler May, who gave the bulk of her massive art collection to the Baltimore Museum of Art. Susan has written her biography, “Saidie Adler May, Pioneer of Early Twentieth Century Art Collecting.”
